Cavity resonance occurs when a cavity  becomes larger in dimension. Concern grows when shield /cavity dimensions are equal to or greater than a wavelength.

At low frequencies (large wavelength), resonance will occur when cavity dimensions are increasing in size. At high frequencies (small wavelength), it is difficult to using shielding that DOES NOT resonate.

When a cavity resonates, circuit operation inside the cavity can be compromised. There is severe decrease in shielding effectiveness.

Absorber material can dampen cavity resonance. While Laird’s magnetically loaded grades will perform as intended below 35 GHz, it s the dielectric grades which perform above 35 Ghz.
